中文摘要 | 本論文的主要目的是要從電腦在脈絡中學習自然語言新字的方法來反思我們如何學習外語。這裡所採用的電腦人工智慧系統是由紐約州立大學水牛城分校所發展出來的SNePS系統,此系統的運作過程首先將自然語言轉換成命題語意網路,然後藉由命題語意網路的運用達到學習新字的目的。如果一個字在這網路中和其他字建立起某種關聯,那麼,SNePS可以藉由這些關聯把握這個字,而如果一個字不在這個網路中,則SNePS不認識這個字,但是,SNePS卻可以透過閱讀文章發現新字而將這個字透過脈絡和原本認識的字產生某些關聯達到認識這個字的目的。本論文企圖說明這種可能性以及其運作過程,並且透過這樣的認識來反思人類學習外語的方法。 |
英文摘要 | The goal of this paper is to show the process of learning new words in a computer program SNePS and based on the learning process to reconsider the ways we adopt to learn English. SNePS is a propositional semantic network processing system, which is designed for processing natural language (English). The meaning of a word (a node is assigned to a single word in SNePS) is its structure in the network and its relations with other words (other nodes). If a word has a structure in the network, then the network has knowledge about this word. When reading a text (translating natural language into a semantic network), SNePS may encounter an unknown word and through the process of reading, more and more connections and structures will be built for the unknown word. This process is the learning process for SNePS to learn new words. The aim of this paper is to show this process in detail and based on this knowledge, we can reconsider the ways of how we learn English. |
