英文摘要 | The primary goal of this article is to introduce the types of blade damage in wind-power generators caused by lightning in German and Japan. In addition, the insurance policy in German is described that, if no proper preventive measures are taken, the claim against lightning damage will be declined. Among all lightning-related accidents, most damages occur roughly about 50% in the control system area, while damages in blades constitute only about 10% (13% in Japan). However, the repair cost associated with blade is about 10 times higher than that of other parts. The main strategy to prevent lightning accidents in other countries can be classified into the following approaches: (1) using blades with insulators; (2) designing special parts or area on wind-power generator to receive lightning strikes, (3) using conducing metal or coating on the blade surface, (4) adopting metal blades, and (5) putting the entire wind-power plant as a whole to design for better lightning protection. Finally, current activities in research and development and investigation committee in Japan are also mentioned. |
