英文摘要 | In the history of science, the 17th century was called the great “Age of Geniuses’ Creation,” in which Sir Issac Newton (1643~1727 A.D.) was the representative. Along with Archimedes (287~212 B.C.) and Gauss (1777~1855), Newton was co-listed as one of the three greatest mathematicians in the history of mathematics. Newton had a number of discoveries, including the decomposition of sunlight and gravitation in the aspect of scientific creation, and calculus and binomial theorem in the aspect of mathematics. Any single invention of his was sufficient for his name to be remembered by the whole world forever. By using “mechanics” as the foundation, he wrote the famous work, The Principia which explore the “system of mechanical universe” and ruled the world for almost 300 years. Only when the appearance of Einstein’s “theory of relativity” had Newton’s principles been slightly revised. Extending the previous research paper, “Eureka, Eureka! Archimedes’ Mathematics,” the researcher intends to introduce a series of significant works written by the famous mathematicians. This paper aims at exploring the life and academic accomplishments of Newton, and presenting his influence to the development of science, philosophy, religions and literature for the last few centuries. Through the introduction of the series of scientists, the students are led to the beautiful paradise of science. This paper has 5 sections. The first section introduces the whole life and events of Newton. The second section presents the mathematical creations of Newton. The third section introduces his great work, The Principia. The fourth section discusses the philosophical and religious thinking of Newton. The final section is concluded by the influence of Newton’s scientific accomplishments to different aspects over the last few centuries. |
