中文摘要 | 近年來,英語學生的全人發展在英語教學法研究中普獲支持。尤其,許多當代的教學法學者都贊成學習動機、自信、與語言焦慮等情意因素在語言溝通學習中的重要。許多研究證明人本語言教學活動對於提升英語學習動機有顯著效果。其主要前提為:英語學生與自我或他人的關係越好,語言學習表現就越良好。本研究的目的在於探究人本語言教學活動在大學英語口語訓練課程所造成的效應。本研究共有七十八位修習英語口語訓練課程的學生參與,主要資料蒐集法為無限定答案之口頭訪問。本研究發現絕大多數學生在參與英語口語訓練課程中的人本語言教學活動之後,其學習英語與對自我及他人的態度均更為正向,參與英語互動活動的意願也提高。本研究也討論人本英語教學活動所產生的可能問題。 |
英文摘要 | Many contemporary ELT methodologists have suggested that for language to achieve its communicative function, the role of the learner's affect is essential. Among all teaching techniques, humanistic approaches have been recommended to enhance intrinsic motivation for participation and reduce language anxiety. A basic assumption of humanistic language teaching is that the better students feel about themselves and others, the more likely they are to achieve in language classrooms. Little attention, however, is paid to humanistic techniques employed in university EFL instruction. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate effects of humanistic activities on students' attitudes toward and perceptions of oral English training. Seventy-eight English majors in three oral English training classes of a private university in central Taiwan participated in this study. The primary data collection method employed is semi-structured interviews supplemented by non-participant classroom observations. A major .nding indicates that the overall students' attitudes turn positive as a result of participating in the humanistic activities implemented in the oral English training classes. Potential problems with humanistic activities in English instruction are also discussed. |
