中文摘要 | 林語堂的現代基督教思想是以生命哲學為理論基礎的他以對個體生命意義的探尋為紐帶,在人文主義與基督教,這一對「五四」知識界對立的概念間建立了親緣關係,在本土語境中重塑了「上帝」的神學形象:它來自人為善的高貴本能,是人類至善意向的神學象徵,是個體獲得生存意義的導引,是精神世界中至高無上的神。林語堂認為宗教信仰是個人在生存論上的決斷,是個體的精神事件。因此,「上帝」為能「救國」「救民」,只是拯救個體的精神信靠,這與陳獨秀等人的宗教觀有明顯的區別。他相信對「上帝的精神需求是人的本能,堅決維護「上帝」特有的精神價值和終極意義,即「上帝」是神聖的,是任何世俗的權威無法取代的。「上帝」是超驗的,不能用科學來證明或證偽,科學方法不能用來解決精神問題。本文上篇探討林語堂對基督教的現代闡釋,下篤揭示這種宗教認信在中國文化轉型期對知識份子人格重建的意義。 |
英文摘要 | Lin Yutang is not only a Christian but also a humanitarian. Christianity and humanitarian are contradictory in may fourth movement, but they are correlated in Lin Yutangs views. He realizes God is not the MESSIAH and it is the symbol of the soul. It world guide people through the difficulties ahead and approach perfect spirit Lin Yutang is the special intelligentsia who accept the Christianity completely during may forth movement. The christianity of Lin Yutangs is belong to existential. In his views, the religion is not the means which is used in social but only in order to redemption. God can not be substituted by another idol, it is holy and unattainable. On the other hand, God can not be confirmed by scientific knowledge. Lin Yutang object the materialism and rationalist. |
