中文摘要 | 本文的研究著重在採討臺灣大學生英聽的理解過程。也就是,作者想探討在英聽理解過程中,學失最常遇到什麼問題?遇到問題時,他們用何種英聽技巧來克服困難,進而達到理解的目的 約30位就讀正修大學國貿系學生被隨樣抽出做為研究對象。為評鑑學生的英聽程度,於研究開始前,每化學生均接受語言能力測試,然後,每位學生再各自以 think-aloud 方式(即一邊聽英文,一邊口述腦筋所想的事情),表達他們是如何理解文章的意義。為求學生能順暢地表達〝理解〞文章的過程,整個口述過程都以〝中文〞進行,且全程錄音。所得的資料,以“Protocol analysi”方式來標明學生在英聽理解過程中,所遇到的問題及選用的技巧。最後再把這些問題與技巧給予量化後,以統計方法來分析找出學生最常遇到11種英聽問題及8種最常用的英聽技巧。最後再根據質化分析深入探討一般大學生,尤其是非英語系學生,在英聽的理解過程他們對問題與解決問題的技巧運用的過程。綜合所得的結果捉山適合臺灣大學生英聽課程內容及教學活動。 |
英文摘要 | Listening comprehension is viewed theoretically as an active and conscious process in which the listener constructs meanings by using cues from contextual information and from listener's prior knowledge, which relying on multiple strategic resources to fulfill the task requirements(O'Malley, Chamot and Kupper 1989). The whole process is a covert activity which involves many complicated mental steps. This study focuses on the exploration of EFL listeners' cognitive processes involved in listening comprehension. In particular, it tries to identify the listening problems frequently encountered by Chinese students and the strategies utilized in solving them while comprehending an oral text in English. The result of this study has added to the understanding of the process of EFL students' listening comprehension by identifying 11 types of important listening problems often encountered by the Chinese students and 8 kinds of responding strategies employed by them to comprehend the aural text during their comprehension process. These results were then further categorized into 4 linguistic areas and 6 types of cognitive strategies. Then, the descriptive statistics were applied in order to explore the relationship between students listening problems and responding strategies, and the extent of how language proficiency levels influence the responding strategies activated to solve their comprehension difficulties while listening to an oral text in English. Finally, optimum instructional procedures to help teacher design effective listening courses at college level are suggested. |
