英文摘要 | This study presents a decision model for manufacturing firms used to determine the optimal dynamic price and free replacement warranty period and to maximize profits according to the pre-determined life cycle. In order to conform to the reality, we do not assume that a product resumes its original warranty when replacement occurs. Instead, this research considers the free-replacement warranty under which failed items are replaced free of charge until a specified total operating time has been achieved by the customer. To explore the effect of additive life distributions on dynamic pricing and free replacement product warranty, a numeric method is developed by evaluating the expected renewal frequencies based on renewal processes. Then the expected renewal frequencies are used to deduce the total cost of providing a warranty. The results are used to derive the optimal dynamic price and warranty by applying the optimal control theory to maximize profits when demand is related to the cumulative sales. Under the setting of separable and logistic growth demand function, we found that optimal policies are characterized by simultaneously increasing, or reducing, both price and warranty period and the optimal policies should never be moving up or down in opposite direction. |
