中文摘要 | 個人電腦所使用的軟體,常真有相當程度的網路效應'亦即使用同一種軟體的消費者愈多,其他消費者會更願意使用該軟體。此一消費外部經濟之性質,將致使廠商競爭之策略產生變化,而有別於傳統學理分析之結果。本文的研究,乃以動態控制理論,探 討當產品具有網路效應之特性時,軟體獨佔廠商應採取之動態定價策略;本研究發現,在軟體具網路外部性時,廠商在動態過程中,將採先低後高之訂價策略。文中並且分析廠商應在何種時機推出更版軟體,以獲得最大之利潤。 |
英文摘要 | Network effects are often observed in the use of computer software. Network effects describe that the uti1ity derived in consuming a product is increasing in the number of consumers who consume the same one. This study attempts to ana1yzes how a monopolist responds to network effects and its pricing strategies as the network evolves. In thedynamic setting, the model predicts that the monopoly charges a lower-tha:n-cost price to attract early users and then charges a monopoly price for 1ater users. Timing decisions of the firmfor offering software upgrades then discussed. |
