英文摘要 | In this study electrical resistivity measurement and optical microscopy were used to study the behaviors of isothermal spinodal decomposition of an Al-40 at.% Zn alloy in the miscibility gap. The results showed that, when isothermally aged in the temperature range of 280 to 320℃ the supersaturated Al-40 at.% Zn alloy decomposed by a coherent spinodal decomposition reaction, and that when aged at 330 and 340 ℃ the alloy decomposed via an incoherent spinodal decomposition reaction. It was found from the electrical resistivity versus time curves that the coherent and incoherent spinodal decomposition reactions occurring in the alloy exhibited a 3-stage and a 2-stage transition, respectively. Metallurgical observation revealed that the sequence of the coherent spinodal decomposition of the alloy was: supersaturated solid solution α' → coherent spinodal decomposed α��+α�� phases in the α' matrix →incoherent α��+α�� phases in the α' matrix→α��+α��, and that of incoherent spinodal decomposition reaction was: supcrsaturated solid solution α' → incoherent spinodal decomposed α��+α�� phases in the α' matrix →α��+ α��. |
