| 英文摘要 | In the 1960s’ largely as a result of capitalism and the effects and problems resulting from its spread/development, a new type of theology emerged in Latin America: liberation theology. Its proponents viewed it as a new strain of Christian theology, one closer to grassroots believers and to humanistic ways of interpreting the Bible and one more capable of fulfilling those ideals expressed within its pages. Arguably, because of its obvious appeal to the poor and is possessed, it was able to gain rapid support. But, since Marxist and socialist ideas colored its discourse, many disputes and criticisms have developed around it. This paper will try to evaluate liberation theology using three related approaches. Firstly, it will explore the problem of compatibility between Karl Marx’s atheism and the use of theology in terms of negative theology. Secondly, it will use D. Stephen Long’s radical orthodox perspective to discuss the limitations of liberation theology. Finally, Daniel M. Bell’s view will be used to explore why liberation theology has so far failed to respond adequately to the collapse of the major socialist systems and the further development of global capitalism. |
