中文摘要 | 值此二十世紀末,並在高科技的衝擊之下,大一英文課程遭逢極大的改變。使大一英文課程具活潑性、實用性已成為所有英文老師的目標。然從問卷調查中得知大一新生們都渴望學得有效的方法來改善他們聽、說、讀、寫的技巧。如何找尋有效的教材來符合學生們的需求已成為英文老師們的難題。本論文之目的有二。其一為經由問卷、面談來評估以英文報紙為大一英文教材之價值。其二為進一步了解學生們對此教材及課程設計的態度。從期末之評估得知,大部份同學均表現出比第一學期高的學習興趣。且在課程進展中,亦發現大部份學生都在聽、說、讀、寫技巧上有所進步。此四種技巧之增進亦為大一英文教學之目標,由此可知英文報紙確為大一英文課程中一有效之教材。 |
英文摘要 | At the end of the twentieth century, the teaching of English as a foreign language has encountered many dramatic changes and got some impacts from high-tech. Making the Freshman English program more interesting and practical has been the goal of all English teachers. From analyzing questionnaires, I found freshmen were also longing for learning some effective methods from teachers to improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. How to find effective teaching materials to meet these needs is a problem to all English teachers. The purpose of this paper is two-fold. On the one hand, by using some surveys, questionnaires, and interviews, it evaluates the curriculum of the Freshman English program by using English language newspapers as a teaching tool in order to explore whether they can be effective teaching materials. On the other hand, it examines the students' attitudes toward the teaching material and curriculum. From the final evaluation, I found that most students showed more interest in English at the end of the second semester than at the beginning of the first semester. From this practicum, I also found that students gradually have improved their listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency. The improvement of these skills and the enjoyment of the students while learning are the goals of the Freshman English program. |
