英文摘要 | The dropout rate in Taiwan has been substantially high in recent years and has been an important education issue. The researchers of this study developed a comprehensive dropout-prevention program to reduce the dropout probability of dropout-at-risk junior-high students. Thirty-nine students with potentially high dropout risk were selected from among 430 seventh graders and assigned randomly to the experimental and control groups. Students in the experimental group received a twelve-week intervention program with “individual counseling”, “academic tutoring”, “group counseling”, “truancy monitoring”, and “home visiting”, while students in the control group did not receive any extra services. The students in the experimental group did not show significant difference on any of the three dependent variables. The reasons why this prevention program failed to produce satisfactory results are discussed and suggestions for future research are proposed. |
