中文摘要 | 為因應我國經建發展國際化,技職大專校院及一般大學相繼設立應用外(英)語文系,以培育兼具優良外語能力及專業實務知能的人才,滿足社會各界對此類人才殷切的需求。本研究旨在以學科專家及學生雙方之觀點探討目前科技大學及技術學院之應用外(英)語文系的課程目標、課程設計及實施情形,以做為未來課程規劃的參考。本研究分兩階段實施:第一階段依據國內外有關外語課程設計或專技英文課程發展之文獻探討及目前科技大學或技術學院應用外(英)語文系之課程實施現況分析之結果,編製一份開放式問卷,徵詢目前任教於技職大專校院應用外(英)語文學系的教師對課程規劃的看法,並了解各校課程實施的現況。第二階段依據教師問卷之發現編製學生問卷,分別以隨機抽樣之方式調查各校應用外(英)語文系的在校學生及畢業系友對課程規劃的看法。 |
英文摘要 | In order to achieve the goal of building Taiwan as an Asia-Pacific regional operating center and an island of technology, it is generally considered necessary to cultivate high level manpower with both a good command of English and specialized business-related or technology-based knowledge and skills. With this in mind, many technical universities and colleges have established departments of applied foreign languages (English). The mission of such departments is to equip students with a high level of competence in English language skills and adequate specialized knowledge and skills which are needed in the market. The purpose of this paper is to describe an evaluation of the current curricula of applied foreign languages (English) departments at technical colleges and universities in Taiwan from the viewpoints of both learners and teachers in order to identify the learning and teaching needs and goals of an applied English curriculum. The research was performed according to the following two phases: (1) An open-ended questionnaire was developed based on the educational objectives and curriculum design of applied foreign languages (English) departments at various colleges and universities, the theoretical principles of curriculum design and ESL acquisition. Then a survey was conducted to find out the instructors' opinions about the current curriculum. (2) Based on the findings of the survey, a questionnaire was designed and distributed to students and graduates of applied foreign languages (English) departments at various technical colleges and universities in Taiwan. Feasible guidelines in the development of a curriculum model in the Applied English curriculum are proposed. |
