中文摘要 | 為了順應世界潮流,政府從民國89年度起,將英語正式納入國小課程,英語文教育將提早至國小,因此九年一貫英語課程的設計也成為當務之急,再者,教科書常是課程活動設計的依歸,所以教科書的適當與否對語言學習的成果有相當大的影響。有了電腦科技、語料語言學和計算機語言學的輔助,本研究收集高雄市最廣泛使用的教科書,將比較探討它及統一的國中新教材在本文中的字彙有無差異,並將其當作本研究的語料庫(corpora),而The Brown Corpus 及The LOB Corpus將作為比較的語料庫(comparative corpora)。本研究的分析項目為「字彙出現的頻率」、「詞類」及難易度,除此之外,將利用顯著測驗檢驗國小及國中教材在字彙內容上是否有顯著差異,換言之,本研究的目的在於找出兩類教材間在字彙分布上是否有相關性或重疊性。研究結果顯示兩種高雄市目前使用最普遍的國小教材與國中統一教材間有風格上的顯著差異(p<.05),也就是字彙的重複性極低,再者國中教材平均句數較長,難度較高。對於九年課程的一貫性而言有正面意義,若教材能連貫,可避免學生因重複學習相同或太簡單的字彙而減低學習興趣及成就感。除此之外,研究的五組語料中所有主文的字彙,出現頻率最高的二十個字重複性極高,若教師能強調這些字彙,相信能對學生的學習有正面的影響。 |
英文摘要 | The importance of English will be realized in primary education in Taiwan where upper-grade students particularly are going to officially start their English education in the next school year. The consecutiveness of English education throughout primary school to junior high school becomes a major concern. Teaching materials no doubt plays a role in success of learning and teaching. Therefore, this study intends to investigate English textbooks of primary and junior high schools, starting in Kaohsiung City as a pioneering one in terms of corpus analysis of vocabulary particularly. With the use of CCLang program, which analyzes vocabulary in terms of word frequency and word counts, the vocabulary in the main reading texts of the most popular textbooks of primary school in Koahsiung City are compared with that of junior high school to see if they are linguistically different. It is surprising that through the analysis of word frequency distribution and lexico-grammatical features, they are linguistically different. It is very important that students in Taiwan can benefit from a thorough nine—year plan for their English learning not only in junior high school but also in elementary schools. This is a good start that first English textbooks in primary schools and in junior high schools are linguistically different in terms of word frequency distribution; that is, less overlapping was found. Besides, the most 20 frequent words in the texts of the corpora are very similar. If English teachers are able to spend more time on the most frequent words, students can produce utterances as early as possible. It is hoped that related scholars make more efforts on designing appropriate English teaching materials to ascertain our students’ success and continuity of language learning in this nine-year plan. |
