英文摘要 | To investigate the prevalent of feline immunodeficience virus (FIV) in Taiwan, a total of 313 blood samples was examined for the anti-FIV antibodies from November 1993 to May 1996. By using both the indirect immunofluorescence and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the number of FIV positive cats was 28 (9.0%) out of 313 samples which included those of the native Taiwan breed. Fourteen items of hematology and eighteen items of blood chemistry were tested for a total of 44 healthy cats (27 males and 17 females) and 23 FIV infected cats of various ages. As a consequence, erythrocytes count (RBC), hematocrit (Hct) and albumin/globumin ratio were significantly different (P<0.05) between healthy and antibody positive cats. No significant differences (P>0.05) were observed in other blood hematology and blood chemistry test results of healthy and infected cats. |
