英文摘要 | G. Morgan's rganizational theory puts emphasis on dialectical method, creative paradigms and symbolic metaphors. He is also a pioneer in developing multiple approaches to organization theory, on which he has authored a wide range of articles and edited at least four important books, such as Sociological Paradigms and Organizational Analysis, Images of Organization, Organizational Symbolism, Beyond Method. He has developed "another way of seeing" organization through the dialectical method. We can say it is the best view of Organization. He has successfully applied two approaches: Paradigms and Metaphors in the study of organization. Dialectical method originated from the philosophy of Greek. It is a kind of instrument of dialogue, which can reveal the ultimate truth. Paradigms was originated by T.Kuhn in his well-known book, The Structure of Science Revolution. Paradigm is a concept of objective "way of seeing". There are four organizational paradigms: the Functional Paradigm, the Interpretive Paradigm, the Radical Structuralism Paradigm, and the Radical Humanist Paradigm. Metaphor is an art of literature. It is a kind of image of subjective way of seeing organizational phenomenon, which he has interpreted with eight organization metaphors: organization as Machine; as Organism; as Brain; as Culture; as Political System; as Psychic Prison; as Flux and Transformation; and as Instrument of Domination. He has lectured at over forty universities in Europe and North America and held a number of visiting appointments. He is an outanding teacher of spreading creative organization thought. |
