英文摘要 | The main purpose of the present study was to investigate the socio-sexual behaviors of adolescents and thereby compare details of the targeted behaviors of those with down syndrome and with their matched counterparts without Down syndrome. Participants came from day schools around Taiwan, were screened by the following criteria: (a)with moderate mental retardation, and (b)at the high school level, assigned either DS group or ND group based on their IQs and educational levels. Three Instruments were used in the study, developed by the researcher, and characterized by illustrations and drawings, including (a) The Illustrated Sex Knowledge Questionnaire, (b)The Illustrated Socio-Sexual Behavior Questionnaire, and (c) The Illustrated Socio-Sexual Interest Questionnaire. Some of the findings were interesting, such as (a)both groups were comparable in their sec knowledge scores, with no gender difference; (b) The DS group were far more active in their socio-sexual behaviors than their counterparts, with a gender difference; and (c) in terms of socio-sexual interest, no difference was found between groups. Implications were further discussed. |
