英文摘要 | The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of the types of box nails and nailing schedules on the horizontal shear resistance of shear wall. The No.2 grades of 2X4 SPF lumber were used as materials for studs and top and sole plates of shear wall. Two 1.2cm. thick OSB panels with 1.2X2.4 m in size were applied to each wall frame as sheathing materials. The results indicated that the performance of shear wall is improved as the larger diameter of nails used to framing the wall and the smaller nailing spacing used along the edges of panels. The values of ultimate racking strength of shear wall fabricated with 10d nails is 13.8% higher than that of fabricated with 8d nails and 21% higher than that of fabricated with 6d nails. The shear wall fabricated with 15 cm in nailing spacing along the edges of panels has 19.6% higher in ultimate racking strength as compared to that of fabricated with 20 cm in nailing spacing, and 37.4% higher than that of fabricated with 25 cm in nailing spacing. The shear stiffness of shear wall were not affected by the diameters of box nails used, however, can be improved by shortening the nailing spacing. The shear wall fabricated with 15 cm in nailing spacing along the edges of panels has 26.8% and 48.4% higher in shear stiffness as compared to that of fabricated with 20 cm and 25 cm in nailing spacing, respectively. And the wall fabricated with 20 cm in nailing spacing is 17% higher in shear stiffness than the wall 25 cm spacing. |
