英文摘要 | Cultured juvenile Penaeus monodon at various molting stages were sampled and analyzed for astaxanthin content in head, and shell. In dry weight, astaxanthin concentration in whole prawn and all three tissues peaked at stage D and bottomed at stage B. Flesh had the lowest concentration. There was no difference in concentration between head and shell, however, head had higher astaxanthin content than shell at all stages. Astaxanthin concentration variation from one molting stage to another was least in head and similar between flesh and shell. The use of astaxanthin concentration or content in dry-weight base can better reflect the molting physiology and the differences of pigment concentrations among the tissues than the use of carotenoid concentration in either dry or wet base. |
