英文摘要 | The purpose of this experiment was to study the inter-relationship of yield component characters to the yield of peanuts. 173 varieties of peanut including 38 Virginia Runner, 35 Virginia Bunch and 100 Spanish were collected for field trials. The following agronomic characters are measured at the harvest stage: the length of main stem, number of branches, length of branches, number of leaf let, and position of terminal pod, the number of pod per plant, average weight perpod and yield of pods. Data obtained from these experiment were analyzed by the path coefficient analysis in order to find out their relative importance of various components on the yield of peanut. The results are summerized as follows: 1. Significant differences were found among plant characters in various types of peanut. In general, the Virginia Runner type has relatively shorter main stem, longer and more branches, more leaflet and higher position of terminal pod than those of Spanish type. Those of Virginia Bunch type were in between the other two types. 2. Significant positive correlations were observed between the plant characters, length of main stem and length of branches; number of branches and length of branches; number of leaflet and position of terminal pod; length of branches and number of leaflet and postition of terminal pod; number of leaflet and position of terminal pod. However, the correlation coefficients differ in different types of peanut. For instance, the correlation between length of main stem and the number of leaflet was significant in Spanish types but in significant in Virginia Bunch and Runner types. 3. Negative correlations between the length of main stem and the number of pod were found in all types of peanut especially in the case of the Spanish type. However, positive relaitonship exists between length of main stem and the average weight per pod. Since yield of pods was affected by both number and weight of pod, so that the net effect of the length of main stem on the yield was cancelled out. 4. The relationship between the number of branches and the number of pods was positive in all types of peanut studied, while the realtionship between the number of branches and the average weight per pod was positive only in the Spanish type, but negative in other two types. It was, therefore, concluded that the number of branches had much to do with the yield in the Spanish type. 5. The relationships between the length of branches and the number of pod and the average weight per pod were positive and negative respectively in the Virginia Runner type. However, the relationship was just reversed in the other two types. Hence, the yield of pods was not closely related with the length with the length of branches in all types of peanut studied. 6. It was also found that the number of leaflet was positively correlated with the number of pods, but negatively correlated with the average weight per pod in all types of peanut tested, indicating that the yield of pod was not significantly affected by number of leaflet. 7. The position of terminal pod and the number of pod was positively correlated and significant with all three types of peanut. But the correlation coefficient was larger in the case of Virginia Bunch than in the other two types. This would be due to the fact that the correlation between the position of terminal pod and average weight per pod was positive for the former, but negative for the latter. 8. The direct effect of the number of pod and average weight per pod on the yield of Virginia Runner was positive, but the indirect effect was negative. All of them were with the same magnitude, and the net effect of the number of pod and the average weight per pod was small, because the positive direct effect was affected by the negative indirect effect. Similar results was obtained in the Virginia Bunch type, but correlation between the number of pod and average weight per pod was small but positive. Therefore, the net effect of these two characters on yield would be cumulative. In the Spanish type, the pod yield was dirctly affected by the number of pod rather than the average weight per pod. Further evidence was obtained from the smaller negative indirect effect through the average weight per pod on yield. It is apparent that the yield of the Spanish type was more affected by the number of pod than by the average weight per pod. |
