英文摘要 | Agricultural products, including processed farm products, are of most importance among all the commodities exported from Taiwan. Based upon annually average commodity value exported during the nine years' period, 1949 through 1957, the six major commodities, sugar, rice, tea, canned pinapple, citronella oil and banana, accounted 86.6% of the total value of Taiwan's export trade. Sugar ranked first of all commodities with an average exporting value as high as 58.9%, rice was the second, with 13.0%, tea took 5.4% and ranked third, then followed by canned pineapple with 3.2%, sitronella oil and banana with 3.1% and 3.0% respectively. The variation in value and quantity of agricutural exports not only affected the amount of foreign exchange earnings of the nation, but also affected the amount of income of the farmer as well as the agricultural processing industry. Therefore, the stability of agricultural exports had immediate relationships with the progress and prosperity of Taiwan's national economy. In this study, the stability in quantity and value of Taiwan's agricultural exports were meastured by the percentage changes in cyclical movemet and in link relatives. The larger the changes are, the less the stability would be, and vice versa. From the above figures, we can find easily that tea and sugar are relatively stable commodities and rice is the most unstable one in Taiwan's export trade. So that, sugar and tea have played very important roles in the economy of the nation. |
