中文摘要 | 由細胞外界而來用於調控細胞週期運轉的訊號,有促進生長分裂的,也 有抑制性的,當兩者之間的調控機制失衡時,這可能是促進的機制不正常的增加 或者抑制的機制不正常的降低,這都會造成細胞不受抑制的分裂而形成腫瘤;另 外,分裂後的細胞必須進行分化,以執行其特有的功能,但是當誘導細胞分化的 機轉失常時,也會使細胞形成分化不良的腫瘤細胞,維他命A類物質泛指由食物 中攝取的維他命A(retinol)所衍生出來的一群物質,其生物功能除了在生物體的正 常生長分化、視覺的產生以及生殖等上扮演著重要的角色,另外也能抑制多種癌 症的生長,包括口腔癌在維他命A類物質,能夠特異性的結合到細胞核內的受器 上,來引發許多已知或未知基因的表現,而能進一步發揮其影響生物功能的角色。 |
英文摘要 | There are two kinds of extracellular signals,promotion and suppression, which mediate in thecontrol of cell growth. Cells will go the wrong wayand reproduce indefinitely and eventually result intumor formation when imbalance between thesetwo mechanisms occurs. It is well known that vita-min A (retinol) is an essential dietary component.Both clinical and experimental approaches haveshown that retinoids (vitamin A derivatives) arevital for normal growth, vision, maintenance ofnumerous tissues, reproduction and overall survival.Retinoids have also been reported to retard manykinds of cancer growth including oral cancer. It is thought that the nuclear receptors act as ligandactivated transcription factors to mediate the effectof retinoids on gene expression and to alter the cellcycle and differentiation of normal and tumor cells.Malignant transformation of cells is believed to bethe result of activation of growth promoting oncogenes and inactivation of growth constraining tumor suppressor genes. In this review, we briefly goover the current concepts of biologic functions ofretinoids, signal transduction pathways, and theirpotential role in tumor suppression including oralcancer. |
