| 英文摘要 | Neutron energy spectrum and flux distribution in the thermal column ofPakistan Research Reactor-1 (PARR-1), a typical swimming pool type material test research reactor, have been determined. The method of multiple foil activation was used and the neutron energy spectrum was determined using the spectrum unfolding computer code SANDBP. The pre-information required in the neutron spectrum adjustment procedure, was obtained through modeling the core, thermal column and their surroundings in three-dimensions by using the transport theory code WIMS-D/4 and the three dimensional diffusion theory code CITATION. Comparison between the calculated and experimentally measured results shows a good agreement, which gives confidence in the calculation methodology to be used in carrying out further studies for better utilization of the thermal column. Thermal and epi-thermal neutron flux densities at the face and intermediate plane of the thermal column were measured using gold foils. A contour map for the thermal flux distribution at the face of the thermal column has also been constructed. |
