英文摘要 | Rice field accounts for 35 % of the total crop area in Taiwan. Thus over-use or misuse of chemical fertilizer in rice production may have significant impact on our ecological environment, and become a non-point source pollution. This study indicated that labor and fertilizer are substitutes, while irrigation water and fertilizer are complements. As for the price elasticity of the 1□ crop and 2□ crop, the formal is -0.3540 and the later is only -0.2663. It is evident that low fertilizer price has resulted in waste of fertilizer and irrigation water, whereas high fertilizer price may not subdue its application. Therefore, policy options to reduce fertilizer application should include: 1.ceduction in rice price which will curb output and hence reduce the demand for fertilizer; 2.switching rice field from double cropping to single cropping or rotation rice with green manure which will significantly reduce the demand for fertilizer. |
