英文摘要 | A systematic investigation and registration of landslides on a regional scale has been recently undertaken in the reservoir area of the Three Gorges Project in the Yangtze River, China. Due to its geological and geomorphological history, climatic conditions and human activities, the reservoir area is particularly prone to slope instability. On the basis of the investigation, 404 landslides, each more than 10,000 m3, are distributed in the catchment of reservoir area of the Three Gorges Project in the Yangtze River. 283 of these landslides are located along the main stream. The slope failures are analyzed in detail in relation to lithology, relief, rainfall and also to human activities. Landslides occur mainly on sandstone, mudstone, shale and coal underlying limestone. Relief and slope have significant influences on landslide development. The amount, intensity, and duration of rainstorms greatly effect the occurrence of landslides. Two typical examples of landslides in the reservoir area are studied. |
