中文摘要 | 造紙時添加的各種藥劑愈趨繁雜,惟某些添加劑有可能影響廢水化學混凝結果。本研究以粒子電荷測定儀與界達電位儀探索此一干擾現象。以試驗室白水循環試驗配合由現場採集的廢水進行杯瓶試驗測定添加特定藥劑後對廢水污染物沉降性質的影響。非離子性聚合物聚氧化乙烯( PEO) 顯現對白水之電化學性質及化學需氧量(COD)有顯著之影響。現場廢水係採自一以舊瓦楞紙箱為原料抄製紗管原紙之工廠。 結果顯示添加PEO,其濃度在25至250 ppm 範圍內時會影響粒子電荷並使凝集變差,廢水COD、濁度與懸浮固體增加。混凝時形成的膠羽顯著變小且不易沉降。此廢水即使添加再多的凝集劑與助凝劑也無法達到原來的處理結果。 含PEO之廢水可經通入空氣而獲改善。此問題在以化學混凝為主要處理之中小型紙廠應值得重視。 |
英文摘要 | Chemical additives used in the wet-end of paper machines have increased both in varieties and functions. Certain commonly used additives, however, may cause undesirable interferences during wastewater treatment. This phenomenon was investigated with the aid of a zeta potential meter and a particle charge detector (PCD). Batchwise recirculated white water in a bench-scale experiment suggested that addition of polyethylene oxide (PEO), a non-ionic polymer, could significantly alter the electrical properties of the white water and increase its chemical oxygen demand (COD). Jar tests using effluent stock from a mill making chipboard from old corrugated containers (OCC) on settleability of the pollutants also worsened when PEO was present in amounts ranging from 25 to 250 ppm. COD, turbidity, and suspended solid (SS) of the treated effluent all increased. The effect was notable as the sizes of the flocs after adding polyaluminium hydroxy chloride (PAC) coagulant and anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) flocculation aid were much smaller and less settleable. Even large increases in doses of PAC and PAM could not reverse treatment results. In the case of PEO interference, aeration of the effluent was found to ameliorate the effluent COD and turbidity. Awareness of this rarely mentioned problem and its potential solutions can be important to mills dependent on chemical effluent treatment. |
