英文摘要 | There are three kinds of flowering vegetables commonly grown in Taiwan, namely cauliflower, broccoli and daylily. Daylily production will not be discuss in this paper due to its high production cost in Taiwan that can not compete with that grown in mainland China. Broccoli production is concentrated in the autumn and winter seasons. Cauliflower can be grown all of year-round. The yield of cauliflower for the market was 1,034-1,821 tons during the period of June-September in 1992 and the highest price of NT$/per kg 66.17-99.66 was seen in this season. Since very few varieties of cauliflower were developed by government research units for extension, farmers mainly used those varieties released by private seed companies. The foreign products of cauliflower could not compete with the local one because cauliflower can not endure long-term storage and consumers here prefer the eating quality of local variety. In order to meet the market requirements, efforts should be intensified on studying the post-harvest technology and developing better varieties. |
