英文摘要 | Russian nouns are distinguished by gender and change for number and case. A Russian noun belongs to one of the three genders: masculine, feminine and neuter. Nouns in Russian change for number: A noun may be either singular or plural. When a noun changes for number, its ending changes too; in some cases not only the ending changes but the stem of the nouns as well. Furthermore, Russian nouns change for case --six singular cases and six plural cases and the change of case is not quite the same. In comparison with English nouns, they are distinguished neither by gender nor by case they change just for number. Under such circumstances, it is not too difficult to imagine that the complicated declension of Russian nouns causes a great deal of trouble for beginners in Russian. Although the declension of Russian nouns is very complicated and at the same time has a number of exceptions, this author discovered a relationship at work with Russian phonetic rules. If we know the Russian phonetic rules well and use this knowledge to analyze the declension of Russian nouns, that will save us a lot of time and energy spend in memorization. That is the purpose of this article. |
