中文摘要 | 本文旨在全面省察中國文史學界歷來對於「唐宋文化變遷」論題的研究方法與學術成就。首先揭開馬克思學說、日本京都學派、東京學派與大陸學界對中國歷史分期的盲點與迷思。其次,質疑劉大杰所代表的文學進化史觀,討論陶希聖、陳寅恪、傅樂成等史學家關於唐宋變革期研究的啟示意義:作者以「知性反省」的精神作為宋代的文化性格。順此思路,進一步提出以風格類型、審美典型與文化精神,來充實唐宋變遷的理論意涵。最後,作者認為中唐以後,整個宋代文化,是從自覺的反省精柛發展而來,對傳統進行批判與價值選擇,是一種透過「詮釋」以復古的新文化創建歷程。 |
英文摘要 | This paper at once examines the research methodology and assesses the achievements of the great scholars and commentators who have in the past millenium worked on the discourse of the cultural history of the Tang and the Song Dynasty. First, I point out the aporias and mistakes in the periodization of Chinese history generally adopted by the Marxists and scholars of the Kyoto School (in Japan), Tokyo School (in Japan as welt), and Mainland China. Second, I question Liou Da-jie's 劉大杰 evolutionary theory and discuss the implications of the cultural movements in the Tang and the Song Dynasty as having been studied by historians Tao Xi-sheng陶希聖, Chen Yin-ker陳寅恪, and Fu Yue-cheng傅樂成: my argument is that Song Dynasty's cultural character is "intellectual self-reflexivity." Thinking along this line I further propose the study of style, types of aesthetic theory, and cultural spirit to enrich and broaden the theoretical implications of this great period's cultural history. Finally, I believe that since mid-Tang period which must include the Song Dynasty, the culture has been consistently developing its own self-reflexivity, censuring tradition, choosing new values, and through interpreting the past constructing a new texture for itself. |
