英文摘要 | Among the variety of telecommunications applications that have potentials to alleviate transportation problems, telecommuting is considered one of the most promising substitutes of work trips, the major determinants of traffic congestion and air pollution during peak hours. The present study investigates the employee's adoption of telecommuting based on a behavioral analysis approach. Stated-preference data from emplyees around the Taipei area are surveyed to estimate the adoption model that is founded on an ordinal probit framework. Four groups of factors have been identified to have a bearing on the employee's preferences toward home-based telecommuting: economic implications, commuting attributes, job characteristics, as well as personal and household characteristics. Special attentions have been given to particular factors in Taiwan, such as relatively higher bus and motorcycle riderships and smaller living space. The estimated model is essential to forecasting the number of telecommuting occasions adopted by employees per week, which is a basis for the measure of telecommuting effectiveness. |
