英文摘要 | When both fine and coarse aggregates have the same specific gravity, the packing structure of aggregate that has the least void ratio will also have the maximum unit weight. However, the concept needs to be modified whenever the specific gravity of fine aggregate is different from that of the coarse aggregate. This study establishes an equation for relating the void ratio to the unit weight and fine aggregate ratio of a general aggregate mixture composed of particles with different specific gravity. From the equatin, the formula and graphic approach to find the least void ratio and the corresponding fine aggregate ratio for the general aggregate mixture are derived. The experimental data on the least void ratio for the aggregate packing with various fine moduli of fine and coarse aggregates also indicate that a packing with a fine aggregate ratio of between 35% and 45% has the least void ratio approximately in the range from 0.23 to 0.31. |
