中文摘要 | Wireless ATM網路的設計目標主要是建立一個能提供整合服務(Integrated services)的無線網路,以無縫隙(Seamless)且有效率的方式將現有的有線ATM網路延伸到無線用戶端。意即Wireless ATM網路必須保有ATM網路原有的特性,提供合理範圍的服務、位元速率和服務品質等級(QoS levels)。由於無線電媒體(Radio medium)的先天限制,Wireless ATM網路所能提供的服務種類亦會受限。因此,如何減低無線電媒體對Wireless ATM網路的影響,即為Wireless ATM媒體進接控制技術必須克服的難題。根據Wireless ATM網路的需求,本文收集了幾種適用於Wireless ATM網路的媒體進接控制技術,討論其運作方式及所需配合之天線結構,並在最後針對各種技術的運作特性做一詳盡的比較。 |
英文摘要 | The general aim of most wireless ATM proposals is to design an integrated services wireless networks. The networks can provide end users the tetherless extensions from the basis of conventional ATM network capabilities in a seamless and efficient manner. This means that the proposed architectures should support a reasonable range of service classes, bit-rates, and QoS levels previously defined in conventional ATM network. It is recognized that there may be quantitatively variant between wireless and wired ATM in achievable service characteristics due to fundamental limitations of the radio medium. Therefore, how to reduce the effect of radio medium is the main challenge of the media access control protocol for Wireless ATM. According to the requirements of Wireless ATM, this paper introduces some media access control protocols and discusses their operations and antenna architectures. Finally, the characteristics are also compared among them. |
