中文摘要 | 臺灣有414,699位新移民女性,其子女人數也急速增加。瞭解東南亞新移民女性對臺灣母語教育的看法,筆者於2004年到2009在臺灣各地執行質性研究,探討母語傳承與其對學校母語教育之期待,並以視母語為問題、視母語為權利和視母語為資源之觀點來審視。研究主要是以訪談來自東南亞不同國籍之新移民女性為主,呈現東南亞移民女性對新臺灣之子的母語教育的觀點。大多數的受訪者都期待學校能夠教授其母國語言。主要研究發現包含:(1)藉由學校教育回歸到家庭教育;(2)華裔新移民女性傾客家話;(3)應增加母語語言學習內容;(4)多語言多文化發展;(5)轉憂心為放心。新移民女性期待臺灣母語也應含新移民女性母國之語言。論文並提出新移民女性對其母國語言的態度,應該可以作為規劃臺灣母語教育的重要參考,特別是應當從語言人權和教學資源的角度,積極的規劃多語言的教學和師資培訓。 |
英文摘要 | There are 414,699 Taiwan New Immigrant Females (TNIFs), and their children are increasing rapidly. A qualitative research was conducted from 2004 to 2009 in order to understand the Southeastern Asian TNIFs' perspectives on mother tongue education for their children. Language-as-problem-solving, language-as-right, and language-as-resource were adopted to examine this issue. Most of those Southeast Asian immigrants expressed that it would be beneficial for public schools to teach their mother tongue. The research findings indicated: (1) Mother tongue taught at public schools made TNIFs able to teach their children mother tongue at home; (2) TNIFs with overseas Chinese heritage preferred Hakkanese; (4) More mother tongues should be taught at public schools; (5) TNIFs felt relieved on multilingual controversy. TNIFs are eager to have their mother tongues included as part of Taiwanese mother tongues and taught at school. This research also argues that having TNIFs' mother tongues taught in the public school education indeed provides linguistic rights and resources to children of TNIFs. Consequently, it is essential to design curricula on multilingualism in the teacher education program. |
