英文摘要 | Background:To ascertain whether the postnatal cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) differs among small for gestational age (SGA) infants and gestational-age matched matched appropriate for gestational age (AGA) infants and gestational-age matched AGA infants. Materials and Methods:Using the duplex Doppler system to assess postnatal changes in CBFV and Pourcelot's resistance index (R1),we studied the anterior cerebral artery and middle cerebral artery of 29 preterm infants without complications, The study cases included six SGA infants, 10 birth-weight matched AGA infants and 13 gestational-age matched AGA infants; they were assessed after the first 24 hours and on days 3,7,14and 30. Results: No statistical difference in CBFV was found between the SGA group and the gestational-age matched AGA group at any age. The CBFV values in the SGA infants were significantly higher than in the birth-weight matched AGA infants. The SGA group had lower R1 values during the first three days after birth, but this differerence later disappeared. Conclusion: The postnatal change in the flow velocity of SGA preterm infants is similar to that of AGA infants of the same gestational age. This suggests that flow velocities are influencee by gestational age rather than by birth weight. The lower R1 values during the initial days after birth in the SGA infants may be a continuation of the intrauterine situation. |
