英文摘要 | The American Institute of Nutrition published the AIN-76 purified diets for laboratory rodents in 1977. As the diet was used over the years and some problems were discovered, the AIN-93 diets were formulated as substitutes. Some major differences in the formulation of AIN-93G compared with AIN-76 are the reduction of the amount of phosphorous from 5 g/kg diet to 3g/kg diet, replacement of CaHPO�� with CaCO�� and KH�� PO��, and increased Ca:P molar ratio from 0.75 to 1.3. Since calcium salts and Ca:P molar ratio may affect iron absorption, our objective was to compare the iron bioavailability of AIN-76 and AIN-93G diets using a rat hemoglobin repletion bioassay. Weanling male Wistar rats were first rendered anemic and fed AIN-76 diets or AIN-93G diets supplemented with 6, 12, 18 ppm iron supplied as ferrous sulfate for 14 days. The major effect of diet types on repleted hemoglobin concentrations and the gain of hemoglobin iron was not significant (P>0.1) based on two-way ANOVA. Significant linear dose-response correlation was obtained between hemoglobin gains and added iron concentrations, and between hemoglobin iron gains and intake of added iron by regression analysis at P=0.0001. Calculated from the regression coefficient of the latter, the relative biological value of iron for AIN-93G diets was 94.5. It is concluded that iron bioavailability of AIN-93G is similar to that of AIN-76. |
