英文摘要 | The linguistic property of dance is not very clear for most of the people. We feel that the concept is corrective but can't tell precisely how it does. That makes the argument about the linguistic property of dance a subjectivity statement. In this paper, I try to clarify this viewpoint, by the theory of the formal language (Harry et al., 1981). Hoping that through the objectivity of this viewpoint, we can recognize deeply the perception under our mind in watching the dance. In this paper, a performance of a dance is treated as an instance of a stylized dance. The spirit of this performance is actually embedded in the stylized dance. An instance of dance is created by the production rules. And the production rules determine the style and the linguistic property of the stylized dance. When viewing through the linguistic, a stylized dance can be divided into (1) a regular stylized dance, (2) a context free stylized dance, and (3) a context sensitive stylized dance. Taking this manner to appreciate a dance, we can also answer the puzzle of "whether or not is a string of movements a dance ﹖ " |
