英文摘要 | This is a full-length biographical study of Jin Ying and Xing An, two eminent eunuchs of Annamese origin of the middle Ming dynasty. They were among a score of castrated teenagers who entered the service of the Ming emperor Chengzu as prisoners of was from Annam and rose to prominence in court politics under Emperors Yingzong(r.1436-1449;1457-1464)and Jingdi(r.1450-1456).Drawing on a wide range of primary and secondary Ming sources, and rare items of epigraphical materials and funeral artifacts unearthed in the 1950s, this essay sheds new light on their life and career, in particular their role in political intrique and succession disputes during the reign of Jingtai and Tianshun. It also examines in detail the place of these non-Chinese eunuchs in court politics and their impact on the eunuch establishment in Ming history. |
