英文摘要 | If philosophy and culture are to progress, there must be new ideas expressed, new categories and new ways of thinking established. According to Yen Fu's definition of philosophy and logic, ancient China had no strict philosophy per se, all that existed was a sort of “pre-notion” of philosophy. What ancient Chinese thinking lacked in philosophy, it made up for in the notion of “qi”. “Qi” has no definite intention or any extension; it is a sort of “panvitalism”. Ancient Chinese thinking could then be construed as panvitalism in this light. Thinkers such as Yen Fu and Dong Yi Zhi promoted a notion of “Gradual adaptation of western ideas to oriental cultures”. In doing so, it was hoped to use western principles to forge a new “qi”. |
