英文摘要 | The syllabus prepares students for an understanding of the Freshman English class at National Chin-Yi Institute of Technology. It also introduces and explains what is expected of students enrolled in Freshman English. Being an English teacher, the author devotes herself to facilitating students in acquiring strong linguistic competence in the shortest possible time. Searching for appropriate teaching methods and materials on how to assist students in the process of language learning are the author's primary teaching objectives. In the paper, a planned syllabus for the fall of 1997 describes what textbooks are needed and what assignments are required for a whole semester schedule, illustrates the author's philosophy and purpose of Freshman English, interprets the teaching method based on students' level of proficiency and needs, and evaluates students' achievement by their performance of learning. In addition, one technique of classroom assessment, a Reading Rating Sheet, assists the author in obtaining useful feedback on what the students are learning. With the information, the author can re-focus her teaching to help students make their learning more efficient and more effective. |
