英文摘要 | The formation mechanism of bainite reaction in steels is reviewed. The characteristics of transformation, morphology and microstructural constituents of bainite are summarized. The bainite transformation is initiated by the growth of bainitic ferrite in a martensitic style, followed by partitioning of excessive carbon into surrounding austenite. Incomplete transformation phenomenon and surface relief are associated with the former stage, while the latter relates to the occurrence of upper/lower bainite. Under certain circumstance, the observations of the α/γ interface propagation in a way consistent with the martensitic manner can be made. The observations include accommodation twinning and interface bowing occurred between the collided bainite plates. Bainite reaction responds to the externally applied stress or strain is considered to behave in a way similar to martensite. The external force contributes to the total driving force by providing mechanical driving force. By introducing defects to austenite, the nucleation density can be enhanced but the propagation of the α/γ interface is likely to be hindered. Finally, the transformation of residual austenite after the cessation of bainite reaction is also discussed. All the information is discussed in the context of displacive transformation mechanism of bainite. |
