英文摘要 | In this paper, the combined efect of a random power assignment scheme, Rayleigh fading, and near-far effect on the performance of the slotted ALOHA techuique is studied. Furthermore, the performance degradation caused by AWGN is investigated. Mathematical expressions of system throughput and packet delay have been successfully obtained for each case. To reflect situations in practice, the effect of signal captures is incorporated in the analyses. We consider a signal to be successfully captured if its power is greater than the sum of powers of all other signals involved in a collision by a ratio. Numerical calculations are used to demonstrate the degree of improvement or degradation. Remarkable improvement is achieved when considering the combined capture effect under a noise-free assumption. However, fading causes errors when AWGN is present, thus reducing the system performance. In cases where AWGN effect cannot be ignorel, a random power assignment scheme is effective in combating the AWGN degradation. |
