英文摘要 | Electrical conductivity is determined by the ion composition of milk. Usually in the early stage of inflammation of the udder, the conductivity of milk has been changed. Therefore, by measuring electrical conductivity, the goal of early detection of mastitis can be achieved. From the study of electrical conductivity of foremilk, after 16 hours milking interval, the average conductivity of healthy quarters was 6.2 mS/cm and after 8 hours milking interval, the average conductivity of healthy quarters was 5.6 mS/cm, which showed the effect of the length of milking interval. In an inflammatory condition, the conductivity increased, and after 8 hours milking interval, the average conductivity of quarters from foremilk was 8.8 mS/cm. The variance of maximum difference among quarters increased too. This showed the difference of conductivity between healthy and inflamed quarters was obvious. Study showed the electrical conductivity had higher sensitivity to mastitis than somatic cell count and appearance inspection. It had stable signal several days earlier than the other methods. The somatic cell concentration of healthy quarters was less than 260,000 cells/ml, and the somatic cell concentration of quarters of stale cows was between 879,000 to 1,427,000 cells/ml. The correlation coefficient of cell count and conductivity of healthy and inflamed quarters is 0.535, the value being 0.262 with only healthy quarters. |
