英文摘要 | Containership liner service is the major way to transport containers by sea, nowadays. In order to offer better service and spend less cost, shipping companies are facing to select properly en route ports for containership liner service. This paper makes an attempt to formulate a model to assist shipping companies to select en route ports for an ocean-going containership liner route. Operating costs as well as the fixed-schedule aspect, periodically visiting en route ports, are taken into consideration in the model. The selection model is evaluated by a real-world case, selecting en route ports for a liner route from American West Coast to Far East. The case study shows that the candidate en route ports with larger volume of containers to be transported have more possibility to be selected. Furthermore, the larger size of vessels is adopted, the few of en route ports are selected. However, the periodicity of visiting en route ports will make the containership route hesitantly to change. |
