英文摘要 | The primary purpose of this research was to develop and standardize the Chinese Career Beliefs Inventory (CCBI), designed to assess career beliefs held by senior high school and university students and to evaluate the effects of congitive career counseling approaches. The CCBI is consisted of three forms: A-1, A-2, and B. The normative sample of 2210 senior high school and 1750 university students was drawn from public and private high schools and universities by means of stratified sampling and cluster sampling based on location of school, nature of school (public or private), and grade level. The percentile rank norms were established for males and females. The reliabilities and validities of the three forms of the CCBI were examined. The findings were summarized as follows.(1)The Cronbach alpha coefficients ranged from .86 to .93 for the total scores and from .46 to .93 for the subscales. (2)All the subscales in the three forms of the CCBI were unidimensional.(3)The one-month test-retest reliabilities ranged from .77 to .86 for the total scores and from .46 to .85 for the subscales.(4)The correlations between the CCBI and the Social Desirability Inventory were not significant, except four subscales.(5)As expected, the career beliefs were related to state-trait anxiety, general beliefs, career decision making, but less related to vocational interest. (6) Intersubscale correlation coefficients were .00 to .63, and subscale-total-scale correlation coefficients were .14 to .76.(7) Three factors were retained from factor analyses of the 13 subscales of Forms A-1, A-2, and the 12 subscales of Form B respectively. The results indicated that the CCBI possessed sufficient reliability and validity to justify its use as a counseling and research instrument. Results of this research are discussed, and recommendations for career guidance and counseling are proposed. |
