英文摘要 | Black rot of sun hemp (Crotalaria juncea L.) was diagnosed as caused by the fungus:Ceratocystis fimbriata E11. & Halst. The infected site firstly appeared as water-soaking pale brown ellipsoid lesion at about three days post inoculation and gradually turned into black long-ellipsoid necrotic lesion. Several lesions may coalesce each other while lesions expanded and gradually girdled the whole stem to make the above part of plants showed wilt symptoms. After that, the infected plants turned yellow-wilt and eventually dead. Frozen section of the disease tissues showed that infected part of stem turned into black and whole tissue full of fungal clamydospores when viewing under microscope. In 5-7 days, the pathogen produced long-beak perithecia and Chalara anamorphs in diseased area, which is characteristic among Ceratocyctis species. The perithecia are between (132-)138-193(-216)um in diameter and bearing long beaks range from 283 to 500um. The ascospores elliptical, giving a hat-shaped appearance, hyaline, smooth, (4.6-) 5.0-5.8(-6.2) × (2.5-)3.2-4.4(-5.0)um. The conidiogenous cells slender, slightly pale brown at the basal cells, (28-) 33.9-48.1(-52) × (3.0-)3.5-6.1(-8)um. The conidia cylindrical, truncate at the both ends, hyaline, (10.8) 15.0-28.0(-39.8) × (1.7-)2.4- 2.6(-4.2) um. Clamydospores terminal, sometimes in chains, obovate to oval, brown, (12.5-) 13.0-15.7(-17.5) × (7.5-)9.1 -10.8(-12.5)um. This is the first report of the black rot of sun hemp in Taiwan. Due to the nature of the wide host range of this fungus, we recognized that it is potentially a threat in central Taiwan. |
