英文摘要 | PF power amplifier is the dominant module in wireless communications systems. Load characteristics are key effects on the performance of RF power transistors, such as power output capability, efficiency and linearity. Therefore, the accurate analysis on the load characteristics of RF power transistors is prerequisite and most important for designing RF power amplifiers. This paper detailed three methods to analyze the relationship between output power and load impedances for RF power transistors. These methods include the simple load line approximation methods, the simulation by nonlinear simulators, and the measurement method by load-pull analysis. All of these methods can obtain the load impedances vs putput powers and plot in Smith chart, which is called by power contours. From the power contours, the designer can easily design the output matching network for power amplifier. Furthermore, for the purpose of completeness, the basic principles for Class A and B operation of power amplifier were also illustrated in detail. |
