英文摘要 | The course (or subject in the elementary and middle school) "Social Studies" in the Republic of China, finds its root in the old tradition of ethical cultivation. Owing to the influence of the western industrial countries, this old tradition of ethical cultivation formed itself through the Integration of three subjects:Civics, History and Geography, and reformed itself in the 80s through the adoption of newly developed "Social Sciences". Modern social science is a large body of composed knowledge-systems in various forms about human behavior in different width and depth. Hard-working interdisciplinary integration would be expected. In this article three different models of curriculum-development have been described for the elementary course of social studies in the R.O.C., and the author tried to find out several problems that will sooner or later be confronted. |
