英文摘要 | Taiwan and mainland China are top among the world in terms of erosion rate and sediment yield, respectively. In mainland, total amount of sediment transport in rivers sums up to three billion ton per year. In Taiwan, due to typhoon effect, precipitation within 24 hours can reach 1750 mm in mountain area, which makes erosion rate become 29 mm per year in certain catchments. As a result, reservoir sedimentation problems in both area are severe and urgent. In this artide, comparison of riversedimentation problems is made between the mainland of China and the island of Taiwan. Starting from statistical numbers of various sediment data, such as sediment yield, transport rate, concentration, and mean erosios rate in watershed. Problems with different emphasis in each area are also identified. Engineering strategies in both area are compared and discussed briefly in order to enhance the communication between sedimentation professionals in two territories. |
