英文摘要 | It has been five years since Taiwan had formally introduced foreign workers into the construction industry. A questionnaire has been sent to 50 construction sites to reveal the aggregate productivity of foreign workers as well as descriptive analysis for foreign workers. The results show: (1) The total labor cost of foreign workers is about 40% to 60% compared with domestic workers. (2) The time period that the unit labor cost of foreign workers equal to domestic workers is about 5 to 9 month in building construction, 2 to 6 month in civil construction. The duration that contractors can get benefits from utilizing foreign workers is about double those times. (3) Contractors prefer on job training rather than formal training and thus result in problems. of work quality, the critical point is that those contractors who import foreign workers are not the contractors utilize the foreign workers in construction sites. (4) The work permission period has caused the foreign workers escape from the site. It can be solved by extending the work permission period and reduce the amount of foreign workers. |
