英文摘要 | Lai Ho, who was sell-known as "the father of new Taiwanese literature", "The pioneer of new Taiwanese literature", "Taiwanese Lu Shiun", had high position in Taiwanese literature for his novels during Japan colonial period. Besides his novels and prose, we can not think of his original works of literature without mentioning the modern and traditional poems he wrote, especially the traditional poems of his own style. "The human being is the animal of emotions, thus he will be sentimental for surrounding objects. Writings out of sentimental reasons are the most natural." said Liu Hsieh in his book "Wen-Shin-Tiao-Long", Ming Poetry: "The atmosphere moves objects, and the object touches people. Therefore, people write poem and articles for the touching moments." also said Chung-Jung in Poem Critics. We can thus learn that the writiing of poem is out of poet's artistic emotions. Lai Ho was born on 1894, and died on 1943. He was an important character in the transition stage of Taiwanese Literature Development. He was educated in the traditional Chinese way. Although being active in the Movement of New Literature, he wrote traditional Chinese poems which were very famous among his friends and colleagues. "If Lai Ho were born in Tang Dynasty, he would have been famous for the Tang poems he wrote. However, he was born in modern world, so his achievement equals to that of Lu Shiun." said Chen Hsu-Ku, his colleague in Ying Society. In the poem "Cry for borther Lan-Yun", Yang Yung-P'eng praised Lai Ho as follows: "His fame as to a poet is similar to the ethic as to a doctor which will be fairly judged by the followers. The words he wrote can touch the deepest sorrow of my heart." We can see the recognition he received from his fellow people for his achievement of new and traditional literature. There are four parts in his article to analysis the essence and thoughts in his new and traditional poems. 1. Introduction; 2. The origin of Lai Ho's thought: the growing-up background of Lai Ho, the contradictories between modern and traditional literature, and the influence of Ju, Tao, and Shih philosophy. 3. The resistance spirit in Lai Ho's poems: in traditional poems and Modern poems. 4. Conclusion |
